Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won by 7 Wickets

Match report After lasts disappointing wash out, the Green were back in action with the latest fixture in the long running rivalry with Nowton.

Joe won the toss in friendly bowling conditions and his decision was soon vindicated with opening salvos from Mark & JP reducing a shell shocked Nowton to 26-4. Unfortunately, the early momentum was halted by our old friend the rain. Once cleared, Nowton returned with a change in tactic going after the Green bowling to the detriment of Joe & Steve’s season’s economy figures. The Green however stuck to their task and soon Nowton had slumped to 103-9 including a wicket with his second ball of the season for the returning Will. A useful last wicket stand of 37 was finished by Mark (4- 43) but ensured Nowton had something to bowl to & promised a tricky chase for this Green batters.

And this looked to be the case with terrific opening spells from the Nowton bowlers removing Stu & putting Steve & Alex firmly in survival mode. Numerous plays & missed kept Nowton buoyant, however once through the first 10 overs, runs started to flow with Steve bringing up his first 50 of the season. Having done the hard work, Steve (58) & Alex (30) both fell soon after one another leaving Ollie & Will to see us home capping off an impressive all round performance & a third win in the row.
