Eight Ash Green Cricket Club - Jack Petchey awards 2022

The Jack Petchey Foundation continues to make a profound difference to the lives of young people in Essex and London and Eight Ash Green cricket club are proud to be a partner and beneficiary of the Foundation. Their advocacy and financial support has had a major impact on all the young people at our club and we are particularly proud of our Jackey Petchey awards winners;

2022
Katie Suckling (aged 18)
Women's cricket is a primary focus for Eight Ash Green cricket club and Katie epitomizes our ambitions. Her immense energy and enthusiasm, aligned with a desire to constantly improve has been a shining example to everyone at our club. Our younger players try to emulate her whilst our more experienced players find renewed excitement in the game. When we started a new indoor softball team this season - Katie was the first to offer support and helped engender a fantastic team spirit.
On the pitch Katie has improved immensely and has become a key player for our women's team with both bat and ball. Every club needs a Katie and we are very lucky to have her at our club.

Noah Lambert (aged 12)
Noah is one of those individuals who raises everyone's spirits when he is in the room. His attitude is amazing. He is upbeat, proactive and funny. His real strength though is his ability to understand situations and to identify the needs of others. A perfect demonstration of this was when he Captained a youth team at a summer cricket festival. He identified that his team lacked experience and he perfectly cajoled and encouraged each and every member of the team so they had enormous fun and learned valuable skills. Thanks Noah.

Christopher Irvin (aged 13)
Christopher is a rare individual and a real asset to our cricket club. For such a young individual Christopher has an incredibly mature approach to everything. He has identified that his cricket skills are rough around the edges. His solution is to practice and then practice some more. He asks questions and takes advice and coaching on board. As a result he is improving every week. Perhaps more importantly Christopher has identified that he has other skills to offer. He is always the first one to offer assistance in setting up matches, supporting in the kitchen and at the BBQ. His all round support and good nature makes him a valuable member of our cricket community and one who we really appreciated having around.
