Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won by 2 wickets

Match report The Green welcomed Dulwich Lawnmower for the second (now annual?) 6-a-side competition with both clubs fielding 2 teams. Having picked their teams and countries the Green were represented by a youthful India (Tom, Jack, Hansana, Connor, Ethan and Duncan) and South Africa (Steve N, Ollie S, Jamie M, Craig, Ajula and Sam). Lawnmower represented West Indies and Sir Lanka - who won the innaugral competition in 2020 and were rather keen to defend their title. Big thanks to Tony and Luke who played for the Lawnmower.

In what can only be described as a run-fest a grand total of 818 runs were scored in 80 overs. The format was a simple 5 overs a side game giving us a total of 8 matches of 10 overs.

The Green performed admirably with their two teams winning 6 of the 8 matches and both teams qualifying for the final. India secured a memorable semi-final victory over Sri Lanka, knocking them out in the process. However, India were defeated in the final OFF THE LAST BALL by South Africa, who went unbeaten in their four games.

A huge thanks to all the players for making this a fun day and to everyone who helped - espcially Dave, Vicky and Rob (the new bar team) and EP for the motivation and BBQ.
