Match report Eventually after so much rain during March and April we managed to start the season with an away match at Ipswich.

Jonathan Purser is the second team Captain this season and lost the toss and told everyone that we were bowling, only to realise after a few minutes that they were warming up their wicketkeeper on the outfield and getting ready to bowl. After all the rain this was not a surprising decision to bowl first.

Eight Ash Green lost debutant Daryl Sleeman to the 5th ball of the innings and Eight Ash Green struggled to score runs against good line and length bowling, not helped by the obviously lush and slow outfield after the last 7 to 8 weeks of rain.

Eight Ash Green were 84 for 6 from 36 overs, but rallied to post a score of 156 all out from 44.3 overs aided by a 8th wicket stand of 42 between Joe Young who scored 66 with 2 sixes and Ethan Wyatt 14 not out.

Eight Ash Green managed to also take a wicket to the last ball of the first over bowled by Jonathan Purser and had Ipswich at 27 for 3, but then with the outfield starting to become quicker, a stand of 102 by Steve Bumphrey 77 not out and his son Ryan Bumphrey 40, took the match away from us and Ipswich won by 5 wickets, with Jonathan Purser taking 3 for 16.
