Ardleigh v Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Sunday T30 XI on Sun 03 Jul 2011 at 1pm
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost by 4 Wickets
Match report
Ardleigh defeat the Green in Extra time
Having lost the toss the Green batted first, Stephen Nunn and Luke Keeble built a good partnership for the 2nd wicket of 70 before both were dismissed on the same total. Wickets followed at regular intervals, and the Green found themselves at 120 for 8 with 13 overs left, Keith Steel joined Paul Marston and these two added some respectability to the score before Paul was out for 35, Steely hit some lusty blows including two big sixes to finish on 34 not out, but the Green innings ended on 179 - crucially giving Ardleigh 3 extra overs.
Steely and Nippy bowled the early overs tightly and although runs were at a premium, the Green failed to make the necessary in roads and take wickets. Ardleigh reached 102 for 3 with 15 overs and the wickets in hand allowed their batsman to attack in those remaining overs. Wickets did fall towards the end of the innings with Steely and Stephen picking up 3 apiece but the winning line was in sight and they achieved victory with an over to spare, opener Lamont batting through the 47 overs for a match winning 78 not out.
