Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost by 86 runs

Match report This week saw the arrival of Nowton to the Green for the Green’s toughest test in about a year. Unfortunately things didn’t pan out the way we would have liked.

Firmin won the toss and chose to bowl. A great call after Fridays rain and the Green got off to a flyer removing Kretzmann after he scored 154 the week before. This brought Cordell to the crease who counter attacked from the off and began to take the game away from the Green. At one point it looked as if we would be chasing 350 +.

With some well-informed bowling changes and good slower bowling from T Aston the Green pegged Nowton back to 250 – chasing 251 to win.

After tea early wickets fell and this pegged the Green back. After some resilience from J Young who finished with 45 and A Hammond finishing with 34 the green got to 164 all out. Securing 3 batting and 3 bowling points to keep up top of the table.

Not a great day at the office but we must dust ourselves down and respond in the right manner against St Osyth.

Special mention to Ed Lambert Clark with his 57 Ball Century last weekend. Probably the only noteworthy contribution from last weekend at Kelvedon.

Heads Up boys we are still on the path to promotion. Let’s have a quality response at the weekend.
