Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Sunday T30 XI v Galleywood on Sun 01 Aug 2021 at 1pm
Match was Abandoned
Match report
On a overcast afternoon Galleywood won the toss and elected to bat.
We had no panel umpires for this fixture, so the 2 teams agreed to umpire the match.
Ethan Wyatt took a wicket with the very first ball of the match, having the batsman caught by wicket keeper Hansana Gunasekera and then Ethan took another wicket in his 2nd over, but after that Galleywood batted well hitting 8 sixes in a total of 243-8 from 40 overs. During the Galleywwod innings Dev Agrawal bowled his best spell of his career taking 2-17 from 6 overs.
We had played on during spells of rain in the Galleywood innings and for the last 2 overs played in the heaviest rain I have played, as we all wanted to complete the last 2 overs of the innings. Spinners Luke Coppin and Will Spicer bowled them as quick as possible, with the last ball from Will going wide down the leg side, but was not called by the Galleywood umpire as we all rushed off to get the covers on the wicket in the hope we could take tea and continue. The rain soaked the outfield and square and it was decided to abandon the match, which was the right decision as the rain continued for the rest of the evening.
