Match report A hard fought victory against a determined Earls Colne leaves the 2nds needing a victory in their final match to secure the Div 9 title.
Earls Colne found scoring difficult against an opening attack of Jon Purser and Keith Steel, however hard runs were hard to come by, so were wickets, JP, Steely and Troy all picking up a wicket each, but we were held up by Doyle and Patel mid innings, until James Plummer pulled off a fabulous catch in the deep to dismiss Patel, the Green fielding was good throughout with the youngsters, Connor Murphy, Troy Collins and Ollie Licence leading the way. Good bowling in the last 10 overs by JP and Jens restricted Earls Colne to 140. The Green found themselves at 31 - 3 early in their innings and on a difficult pitch the total looked a long way off. Enter Man of the Match Jon Purser who gave the the scoring rate a boost with some selective big hitting, when he departed for 40 with the score at 93 there was still a bit to do. Jens came in and worked the ball into gaps and despite the loss of the skipper with a few to get, Bevin joined him and hit the winning boundary for a victory which was based on a very good team performance.

JP MoM Earls Colne

Jonathan Purser, popularly known as JP won the Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Colchester Brewery Man of the Match with a mature 40 that helped EAG 2s clinch victory at Earls Colne. JP (pictured left) receives his bottle of Metropolis from life member and club legend Keith Steel whose bowling figures of 10-1-24-1 helped secure the win.
