Easton v Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Two Counties 1st XI (Saturday) on Sat 11 May 2019 at 12:30
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost by 6 wickets

Match report Can I please have the opportunity to talk about a result that was not another narrow defeat with just a handful of balls remaining? Yes, I enjoyed the trip to deepest Suffolk and Bentries Meadow is a delightfully picturesque ground, but I want to tell you more about victories than defeats.
So here is a synopsis of the match: we lost the toss and were inserted, a decision that was a clear no-brainer under cloudy skies. The Easton bowlers made the most of those conditions, gaining lavish swing that both denied us run-scoring opportunities and allowed them to rush through the cream of our batting as we lost 5 wickets with barely 60 on the board. Only JP of the top order stuck around for any length of time, but his 26 was achieved at a most un-JP-like scoring rate.
Off-field entertainment during the early part of the innings was provided by T-Roy Collins who may need to consider a career as the warm-up act for Milton Jones as he produced classic lines such as: "do horses attack people?" (asked as he recovered a ball from the next door field); "my favourite part of my college course is all the free periods" (sorry Sam); and best of all, 16 year old T-Roy stating "he reminds me of me in my youth!"
Back to the action, and that we were able to reach a near-defendable score was thanks primarily to an excellent effort by Ollie Mewis, ably supported by old man T-Roy. Ollie made 48 at a near run-a-ball, including a six that kissed the rump of the aforementioned horse; maybe after that it might just attack people, T-Roy! At the other end T-Roy provided excellent support, his 15 scored during the best part of an hour at the crease, but ultimately we were unable to see out our 45 overs and set Easton a target of just 148.
Despite the belated arrival of the sun, Easton also found it difficult to score quickly as the bowlers generally kept things tight. JP picked up a couple during his opening spell, captain Keith took one during a mammoth 15 over stint and then Ollie Stovell took a break from delivering dreadful banter to add his name to the list of wicket-takers. Nevertheless, what we needed was a flood of wickets, not a trickle and having plenty of wickets in hand enabled our hosts to eventually get home with 9 balls to spare, 6 of which had been offered up by us when we were bowled out.
