Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Two Counties 1st XI (Saturday) v Kelvedon III on Sat 11 Jul 2009 at 13:00
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost by 33 runs
Match report
Good bowling spells left Kelvedon 110-8 but just like Monty and Jimmy their tail enders proved to be a nuisance and took the total to 174 off the allotted 45 overs. Prior to the disappointing last few overs the Green had bowled and fielded well, Giorgio led the way with four wickets, Jack Smith, Stephen Nunn & Tom Aston the other wicket takers. After losing Luke Keeble early on Richard Polley and Tom Aston put on 50 for the second wicket. Then the introduction of England women’s Squad member Beth Wild proved to be the turning point, her flighted off spinners accounted for seven Green batsman and she returned figures of 7 -26 off 15 overs. Josh Lennard – Jones showed good resistance in compiling 31 and Matt Norris and Giorgio took put 25 for last wicket to add some respectability to the score but the Green ended up 33 runs short.
