Match report The EAG 1st XI came up just short in a topsey turvey game against the tourists from Rayleigh.

EAG started in the field in scorchio 30+ degree sunshine. However, it was the Rayleigh batsmen who wilted in the heat, being reduced to 53-3 after 10 overs and then 86-6. EAG kept the pressure on but a late flourish saw the visitors post 134 all out. It looked competitive but on the low side. There were three wickets for O. Licence and K. Hammond, but all seven bowlers used put in good performances.

Excellent strokeplay from W. Spicer (36) and steady accumulation from T. Chambers (19) gave EAG a platform to build on but careless shots and good catching from the fielding team reduced the Green to 42-4 and then to 75-9. A last wicket hurrah from J. Wair (22) and M. Murray (20 not out) got the Green tantalisingly close before Rayleigh closed the game out, leaving the Green 15 runs short.

The match saw an incredible 16 batsmen caught with 5 being caught and bowled. Lovely stuff
