Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won By 136 Runs

EAG went top of the league with a comfortable 136 run win against Chappell who will leave Fordham Heath ruing what could have been.

Having won the toss Skipper Sam chose to bat first despite the overnight rain. However it looked like a mistake as the Green soon slipped to 9-2 (Sam - err a 'mistake', a tactical masterstroke more like). It could have been a whole lot worse had Steve & James not been dropped first & second ball respectively. Both took advantage of their lives adding 180 for the 3rd wicket. James the main contributor smashing to all parts for a sparkling 167 which included 22 4's & 5 6's.

The Green's total of 275 looked daunting & any hope that Chappell had of chasing it down were soon extinguished by brilliant opening spells from Troy & Calum. Both kept it tight & consistently made the batman play & miss & were unfortunate to only take one wicket between them. However with Chappell 24 -1 off 12 overs the game was as good as won. The rest of the wickets were shared between the team with Bevin (3-33) & Matt (2-30) the pick of the bowling.

Overall another great team performance & thanks to Kelvedons win against West Bergholt, the Green find themselves in the driving seat at the top of the league with 3 games remaining.
