Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won by 6 wickets

Match report Another solid performance from the boys secured what was eventually a comfortable 6 wicket win over Earl Stonham.
After inviting the visitors to bat first and striking in the second over, further wickets proved hard to come by as Earl Stonham resolutely battled their way to 171-5 off their 45 overs. Wickets were shared between Sam Pace (2-43), Jake Harris (2-25) & Matt Parker (1-28); several catches went down although both Parker & Matt Norris were unlucky not to cling on to efforts that could only be described as salmon-like in the way they flew through the air.
In reply the Green were always ahead of the run rate, but lost wickets to boundary catches & one that kept low - what's that old adage about never playing back at the Green, skipper? Alex Hammond (32) was looking good before he nicked-off so it was left to Alastair Woodcock (25*) & a mature knock from Ollie Stovell (49* - excellently timed innings enabling jug avoidance) to see us home with almost 6 overs to spare.
We couldn't quite manage the full 20 point haul from today's victory, but another good win helps the promotion push.
