Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost By 8 Wickets

Match report Well, when the front wheels fall off the cart it's very difficult to get going again and this was exactly what happened to the PIErates. As much as the usual match reports are in jest and funny i honestly can't muster up any jokes or wit after such a performance from the Green. Therefore, i shall just tell you how it is:

The Green were first put into bat by Boxted after i (Matt Parker) lost the toss. On a green damp wicket batting was always going to be hard, (un)fortunately the Green could rely on the 3 batsmen from the 1st XI. UNfortunately between them they only managed 4 runs before losing their wickets extremely cheaply, James in the first over and Luke edging a wide delivery. Steve, well the less said the better really.

Luckily Matt Norris and Tony Lee actually turned up to the game and steadied the ship, Tony playing some exquisite straight drives and Matt Norris too top scoring with 35. Alex H and Joe Young who kissed and made up after their Kesgrave incident, both scoring in the twenties with a Calum McDonald cameo at the end. Finally posting a total of 105 off 15 8 ball overs. Matt Norris saving the Green from the disastrous start.

Myself and James Parker opened the bowling with a difficult total to bowl at the Green were set to take wickets rather than save runs, therefore any loose ball will go to the boundary, James picking up a wicket caught by Tony Lee.

Taking the pace off the ball seemed to slow the run rate down with Alex Hammond collecting a wicket with a cheeky quicker ball, however with such a low total to defend there wasn't much Matt Murray could do and eventually Boxted reached 105.

Overall the Green can learn a lot from the game especially to turn up to play and not take 3 wickets to get in the game, which ultimately was our downfall. Thanks all to who paid and played and on to W Bergholt away! Turn up in the right mindset this time guys!
