Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Two Counties 2nd XI (Saturday) v Boxted on Sat 22 Aug 2015 at 13:00
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won by 46 runs
Match report
A game for the bowlers this one. EAG went into have a bat and struggled throughout the innings, with only young opener Alex Johnson (63) able to show some technical capability of how to hold a bat. Some woeful batting but steadfast resistance from the tail meant EAG were able to post 135, and make the Boxted bowlers' figures enjoyable reading.
Bowling-wise, the Green performed much better. Some tight bowling from everyone ensured that the run rate never escaped them, allowing the bowlers to search for wickets. Solid fielding from the boys also meant that opportunities were taken when they arose.
Young Will Spicer (2-21) made the breakthrough, taking two wickets in two overs. From then on, the spinners Tom Aston and Ollie Stovell took the initiative, bamboozling the 10-man Boxted side to take 6 wickets each.
A resounding 46-run win for the Green, a lucky escape also. Onto Halstead next week.
