Match report A bad day all round for the Green in this top of the table clash with West Mersea.

Losing the toss and being asked to bat first the Green struggled initially with the uneven bounce with Steve being bowled with one keeping low and Nippy edging one that rose of a length to first slip. Jack Smith decided that attack was the best form of defense hitting 7 4's and a 6 in his entertaining innings of 46. However once he played on to end his innings the Green collapsed losing there final 7 wickets for 60 runs as the tail failed to fire.

132 on a decent wicket with a fast out field was also going to be a struggle to defend however the Green applied the pressure from the off keeping the bowling tight and beating the edge on numerous occasions. Mark Goodall got his reward with a jaffer to remove Gray but the in form Rutter proved immovable. Starting slowly before attacking the change bowlers he eased to 69 before holing out with the game in the bag. Bruce struck the winnings runs as Mersea comfortably won by 8 wickets. A terrible performance from the Green which means there are now only 3 points separating the top 3. Hopefully EAG can get back to winning was at home next week against Sudbury.
