Match report The second XI came into this match against Witham on the back of two consecutive wins and full of optimism. We lost the toss (again) and were put into the field. Perhaps Witham were thinking about the 420 runs we had scored against them in the first meet up this season?

Witham's openers made steady progress against an all-new opening bowler duo of Connor Amos and Ajula Gunasekera. The first Witham wicket fell in the 19th over with the score on 80, and four more swiftly followed. EAG were on top and looked like they could bowl Witham out for less than 120. Witham dug in however, as EAG were forced to turn to part time bowlers. A late rally from Witham, led by C. Icely with an excellent score of 122, led the visitors to a very competitive 195-8 off their allotted 40 overs. Pick of the EAG bowlers were Nico Dormant who took 3-26 off 11 overs and the returning Luke Coppin with 2-37 off his 11 overs.

EAG were going to have to bat well to turn this game in their favour - and they did! Ethan Frost followed up his recent ton against Colchester with a superb 85, and a fluent 55 not out from Jack Axon saw the green home with just 3 wickets down in
the 35th over.

This was a mature and professional batting performance from the second XI, with Ethan Frost named player of the match.
