Eight Ash Green Cricket Club North Essex 1st XI (Sunday) v Witham CC on Sun 27 Sep 2015 at 12:30
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won By 10 Wickets
Match report
Alas! The end of the season had drawn nigh, the green was looking very village with a wet mole mound outfield and soggy square, a few hungover members joined late, but as usual nothing much had happened as the opposition captain had just picked up his hourly cheeky nandos with the lads..
The Nando's affected Witham's captain as he won the toss and elected to bat on what was a bowler's dream and batter's nightmare. M. Parker and Spicerack opened the bowling with runs coming rarely, bowler of the team Matt took the first wicket with Witham's Godwin's (div 1 batsmen) middle stump dislodged, Spicer kept the pressure on down the other end when Bellehewe was caught behind by James p, off his brothers bowling.
A slow painful partnership began to develop between Headly and Captain Nandos. Not even Hamptonian Woodhouse or trouserless captain Nunn could stop this partnership. Witham were on 70 at Drinks and with most bowlers tired and too hungover to bowl again he had no choice but to turn to the bearded man Alex Hammond who after buying his new car is rumoured to be the new host of top gear. Alex bowled a few nice overs before the crucial wicket came with an 'Andrew Woodhouse' type wicket, a long hop-half tracker moon ball which had every right to go into weird nick's cricketers car park. Alex had started to walk back to his mark before the batsman top edged it, straight back at him for him to grasp it in his sweaty hands. The capacity crows at the green rejoiced as the cricket since then had begun to become a bore.
The tables turned as the bowlers regained dominance on the batsmen with Ali Hammond whipping the balls in quicker than the club homosexul, speaking of which took a great catch off Alex's bowling.
The bowlers began to tear into the batsmen meanwhile captain Nandos made a half century which i doubt he will be telling his Piri Piri mates about with streaky edges and a few drops, however without his contribution the green would only be chasing 58. Meanwhile Keith (Dom Purser in disguise) took 4 wickets bowling at the tail but were good wickets compared to the hammond's sweaty wickets.
Witham were bowled all out for 130 with 6 overs to spare.
The green had no problems with the club's best batsmen reaching roughly 60 for both of them, this victory saw the club gain promotion into the top division! How? We will never know, the team's summary and awards are all on the website. So, lets bring on next season!!!
