Eight Ash Green Cricket Club U16 v Harwich on Sun 02 Jun 2013 at 10.00
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won by 9 wickets
Match report
A bright Sunday morning saw the U16s execute a clinical demolition of a young Harwich team. Putting the visitors into bat was a wise move, with Sam Pace making use of the new ball to send the top three batsmen back to the pavilion after only 7 overs and 20 runs scored. Ollie Stovell bagged three wickets, while Josef Shone impressed with two overs of effective off-spin, to pick up two wickets. Please have a look at Alex Johnson's bowling stats on the web site for the U16s - and apparently he's a batsman?
There was some stunning fielding: Elliot Cryne took a spectacular one-handed catch at first slip, high above his head, to dismiss the third batsman and later in the innings, Matt Wadling took another brilliant catch at square-leg, very low and hard to his left. Fergus Nightingale once again excelled as wicket keeper.
James Parker and Ollie Stovell opened the batting and put on a partnership worth 38 from 30 balls. Ollie was punishing anything wide down the leg side by clubbing the ball to the boundary, narrowly missing out on a six by millimetres. Jonathan Purser supported the innings through to a memorable victory, representing another terrific team effort. Well done.
