Match report Due availability problems a very different looking 2nd XI took on a Braintree College team that was essentially a Braintree CC Sunday XI.

When the Captain’s tossed up, it was already threatening to rain with the forecast for heavy rain later in the afternoon, Braintree had no hesitation in asking the Green to bat.

The Braintree opening bowlers of Spalding and Archer soon had the Green top order in trouble and it was beginning to look as if Braintree would win the match before the rain really arrived, however Richard Nunn, ‘dug in’ to defy Braintree for over 30 overs as he made his best ever score of 63 not out, to see the Green to 163 at the tea interval. By this time the rain had really set in, and the Captains agreed to abandon the match.
