Last week the Club's Kwik Cricketers participated in two tournaments - the first held at the real home of cricket, The Ford County Ground in Chelmsford, and the second held in Lower Castle Park as part of the Colchester Festival.
The County Ground's 'Mini Matchplay' tournament consisted of 24 teams from across the Essex area and EAGCC were up against some very good sides in their pool, unfortunately losing all three of their games to Essex Primary Development Girls (Much to the boys' embarrassment), Dunmow and Belhust. The evening was incredibly well supported and I think it will be one that everyone, parents and children, will remember for a very long time to come!
The following morning, there was a Kwik Cricket Tournament held in Lower Castle Park as part of the Colchester Cricket Festival. Again, it was well supported and the boys improved on the previous evening's efforts by winning one out of their four games. Again they were up against some good sides in the form of West Mersea, Colchester, and two from Hutton CC. The boys also had the opportunity to meet some Essex players too, as Graham Napier, Matthew Salisbury and Tom Moore came to answer some questions.
I would like to thank Pete O'Donnell on behalf of the coaches and the boys for organising these opportunities for them and the Club, the Parents for giving up your time to not only bring the boys down to allow them to play but also to stand around and support them in what has been some testing temperatures, and the boys for not just behaving well for us, but for being a fantastic advert for Eight Ash Green CC - we are all very proud of you!
Below are some pictures from the events.
Thanks again,
Luke and Andrew (youth coaches)
