Last weekend saw not one but two great achievements for the Green!

The Women’s Sunday XI clinched top spot in their league after a comfortable win against East Bergholt. And last Saturday’s rain cancellations confirmed the 2nd XI’s promotion from Division 9 as West Bergholt can no longer catch us. A win in two Saturdays’ time will leave us as champions, a fantastic achievement by Sam Collins’ young team.

The 1st XI picked up useful points on Saturday when their match against leaders Woodbridge was rained off. Their last home game is tomorrow v. Mistley – ex-players and friends of the club are warmly invited to come along to cheer them on. A win will hopefully secure our place in Division 4 for next season.

The Sunday Development XI, third in their league with six wins out of ten, finish their season on Sunday with a home game against Tendring. Spectators welcome.

On Saturday 12th we plan to celebrate the 2nds’ promotion with a post-match BBQ and drinks at the club.

Awards Night will take place on Saturday 19th. Everyone connected with the club is warmly invited along that evening to hear reports from the various teams, celebrate individual achievements and drink the bar dry before we close down for the winter.

Off the field, with the help of building contractors SDE, we are getting expert opinion on the subsidence that has caused the damage to the away dressing room. We are looking into grants that will allow us pay for remedial foundations work and the rebuilding of the outside walls. If any club supporters or businesses would be in a position to sponsor some of the work, please let me know.
