We’ve made some changes to the Carbon Champions app that drives EAGCC’s environmental activities. It now uses simple Points, Badges and Leaderboard (PBL) ideas to try to ‘gamify’ fighting climate change. Early days yet, but this week we’re working on our top priority – cutting transport emissions using Carshare Scorecards – by borrowing some ideas from Pairs cricket.
Each team’s first goal is to score a Century by winning 100 points. Teams with small fixtures are given a calculated head start as less ability to score. Scores are added to your team when Scorecard pictures are shared, even if your score is zero cars shared. And now, if no scores are shared your team is ‘Out’ and loses 4 runs.
You can email your scores to me for adding to the app, or use the club WhatsApp group. Even better, share your scores on the club’s social media and not only will I pick these up but you’ll get Bonus Points too! Soon you’ll be able to Register and add directly via Act Now! on the App.
This is the first go at this and it will need tweaking. Home games and evening games are harder to share, and we need to focus on long away trips. Don’t worry if your team is behind, there will be lots of other ways to earn points and catch up. Scorecards are available in the pavilion, let me know if we need more. Another option is to use Scorecard images on our web site.
