Carbon Hero
This week’s Carbon Hero is club legend in his own (vegan) lunchtime, Alex Hammond. Alex noticed that a willow tree on the heath had blown over and contacted cricket bat suppliers to see if they could recycle the damaged timber for bats. Unfortunately they couldn’t, but were very interested in planting and harvesting trees in the heath’s wet ground. This is being explored with the Parish Council to see if this win-win-win-win situation (carbon offset, wildlife provision, flood prevention and bat provision) can be made to happen.
Carbon Zero
There are only 3 ways we can cut our transport emissions: Fewer vehicles or fewer fixtures. Better vehicles i.e. electric or hybrid. Nearer fixtures or nearer players. Fewer vehicles is the quickest win, especially when going on lengthy away trips. To encourage this we’re borrowing ideas from 4 and 6 boundary cards and propose issuing sets of 0 to 9 to each team. At each game teams use a card to show how many cars they’ve reduced by car sharing by taking and sharing a pic. If none, then the default is a Zero. The idea came to me during a very, very cold evening at Essex CCC recently ...

If you have any ideas to keep the world's first carbon neutral cricket club at the top of the league for fighting climate change then let me know.
