Match report The second XI have won games this season by batting first and scoring big, and also by bowling opposition out before completing a successful run chase. Today's win against Boxted was our most resilient performance.

EAG won the toss, elected to bat and set about building a big score. It didn't go according to plan. Tight bowling from Boxted and some careless shot selection from the Green and we were reduced to 62-5 after 13 overs. Out strode debutante Joshua Eustace to join Jack Axon at the crease. And they were still there at the end of 40 overs. A quite remarkable partnership of 226 off 162 balls saw the Green through to an impressive 288-5. Josh's maiden century (108 not out) earned him the player of the match award but Jack was equally deserving with his unbeaten 102.

Boxted started cautiously in their reply and never really got going due to some tight Green bowling. Finley Barnard (1-14) took his first senior league wicket, Luke Coppin posted figures of 3-29 in his 11 overs, and Troy Collins took 2-16 in his 9 overs. Boxted ended their innings on 100-8 and the Green had won their fourth game in a row.

It is worth pointing out that 8 of the 11 EAG players in the second XI today have graduated from our youth set up in recent memory. A huge vote of confidence in our youth coaching program - and long may it continue.
