Match report For the last match of the 2025 season on a grey afternoon with the threat of rain from 4pm, Eight Ash Green Captain Duncan Wyatt proposed a 20 over match to Brightlingsea Captain Richard Hunt, which he agreed with each bowler allowed a maximum of 3 overs.

Brightlingsea won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Eight Ash Green moved along steadily with the outfield slower than usual after the heavy rainfall yesterday afternoon. Jake Claydon playing his first match for Eight Ash Green joined Joshua Eustace in a 59 run partnership for the 4th wicket. They both increased the scoring tempo with Jake Claydon hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes in his score of 37 runs.

Eight Ash Green scored a respectful 131 for 5 from their 20 overs.

Brightlingsea struggled to score at a fast enough tempo and gradually fell behind the required run rate. The Eight Ash Green bowlers bowled a much better line and length this week with Joshua Eustace only conceding 3 runs from 3 overs, Dev Agrawal 4 runs from 3 overs and Henry Warner 5 runs from 3 overs.
At 12 overs of the innings it started to lightly spit with rain so I hustled the team through the last 8 overs as we were in a winning position and did not want heavier rain to start to stop us from winning. Half an hour after we finished the match the heavier rain arrived.

Brightlingsea scored 84 for 4 from their 20 overs.
