Kesgrave v Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Two Counties 1st XI (Saturday) on Sat 01 Aug 2009 at 13:00
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost by 35 runs
Match report
Dismal was an apt description of the result and the weather at Kesgrave on Saturday, the Academy XI disappointing run continued. Bowling first the Green restricted Kesgrave to 180, taking six wickets. Ali Hammond taking 4 – 44 off 15 overs, he was well supported by Tom Aston whose 11 overs were wicketless. Jack Smith and a run out by Richard Nunn accounted for the other wickets, Liam Walsh taking two catches in a good wicketkeeping performance.
When rain interrupted the Green’s reply Danny and Tom were already back in the pavilion, after a lengthy break Adrian Sampson followed, bringing debutant Hireum Gojjor to the crease, he announced his arrival by hitting each of his first four balls for four, alas he was out soon after. The large boundaries and wet outfield made scoring difficult, and the total of 180 looked a long way off with the Green at 61-5 in the 18th over. Stephen Nunn batting at seven recorded his best innings of the season scoring 34 not out and adding useful runs with Richard Polley, Jack Smith and brother Richard. The Green finished 35 runs short which having had the worst of the conditions to bat in* was a creditable effort.
*Captain’s fault for putting them in
