Match report Not much to say about this one, I'm afraid. Totham effectively batted us out of the match in scoring 305-5, even more so when we slumped to 94-7 in reply. A late rally meant the margin of defeat was reduced to 79 runs, but we were well beaten on the day.
Facing a team who were challenging at the top end of the table was always going to be hard, especially on a postage stamp sized group with a rapid outfield. Our stand-out bowling performance came from T-Roy Collins who took 3-52 in his 9 overs, but the 30 runs clubbed from the final over of the innings rather summed up our day in the field.
As wickets tumbled in the early stages of our reply, a total thrashing looked possible. That was averted firstly by Ollie Stovell whose innings of 36 came to an end when the ball spat wickedly from a length to take his glove, and then by Alex Hammond and Jens Wair. Alex struck 82 at a 161 strike rate (take that, Totham) which probably made that 30 run over feel just a tad less painful, while Jens was unbeaten on 26 when he inadvertently contributed to Alex's demise and the end of our innings. Alex was run-out at the non strikers end by a deflection off the bowler's boot from a straight drive by Jens; that rather summed up our day.
