Match report
First match of the season, at home, lovely sunny evening, good crowd.
Many thanks to all the parents who helped make sure the game was a success.
EAG won the toss & elected to bowl. Kelvedon started well, 23 after the first pair, 41 after the second, but 5 wickets restricted Kelvedon to 57 at the end of their 16 overs. Billy Sutton was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets & a maiden over. The score could have been much lower but for 38 extras, mainly wides. Ollie Licence in his first game as wicket keeper was very tidy.
The EAG innings did not start well, Mark Liversidge was struck & had to retire hurt, but did return later in the innings, well done Mark. Unfortunately 2 early wickets & tight bowling from Kelvedon restricted EAG to a total of 12 for the loss of 5 wickets. Some of the batting was very good, we need to work on our running between wickets, but bowling stump to stump to reduce the extras is what the boys need to work on before the next match.
Although we lost I hope all the players were proud of their performance, many their first hardball match.
