Match report The U14s maintained their good start to the season by beating Witham by 3 Wickets in a match that was far more tense at the end than it should have been.

Witham batted first and were bowled out for 74 in the 18th over. It was another good bowling display by the boys, Josh and the two Matt’s each took two wickets and Peter one. The fielding was initially below the usual standard but improved dramatically in the latter part of the innings, with three run outs, one a direct hit by Isaac.

Sam and Matt D opened the batting and made good untroubled progress towards the target of 75, Matt in particular playing well for his 16. However once Sam was out for 8, the team hit the ‘self destruct button’. From 32 for 0 the Green collapsed to 65 for 7, and a match which the Green had under control now appeared to be heading for a Witham win. However Matt P managed stay calm and with help from Owen saw the team to victory with two over’s to spare.
