Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won By 13 Runs

Match report The Academy XI travelled a long way up the Suffolk coast to play their final game of the season, and came away winners after beating Sudbourne Hall by 13 runs after an exciting finish.

The Green were put into bat, which they found difficult on a slow wicket and even slower outfield. The top five were all dismissed by the 16th with only 34 on the board. Jack and Richard staged a recovery putting on 43 for the 6th wicket and late order runs from Tommy Liss and Matt Murray help get the score to 123 by the close of the innings.

In reply Sudbourne made a good start to their innings, despite good spells from the Green's opening bowlers Sudbourne made steady progress to 72-2 by the 23rd over, however they then lost 8 wickets for 38 runs. Superb bowling by spinners Tom Aston and Matt Murray and backed up by some outstanding fielding created pressure that swung the momentum in the Green's favour before man of the match, Jack Smith returned to the attack taking the last 3 wickets to wrap up the win in the 37th over.
