Below recently received from TCT. Total now passes £1,000. Well done everyone but especially PJ who drove much of the fundraising.
To Tom Lissimore and everyone who is part of the Eight Ash Green Cricket Club.
I wanted to thank you on behalf of Teenage Cancer Trust and all the young people we help for the incredible donation of £850. This is an incredible amount of money and I am blown away by your support. Not only have you raised vital funds but you have raised much needed awareness about Teenage Cancer Trust and the work that we do. The money you have raised for us will allow us to continue to provide services to Teenage and Young Adults aged between 13 – 24 years from East Anglia who have been diagnosed with cancer.
We can hardly believe that a year has gone by since we first opened our doors at the Teenage Cancer Trust unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, and what a year! The Unit is staffed by highly qualified specialists who are experts in the field of cancer and how it particularly affects teenagers and young people. We have been able to care for and support over 60 teenagers and young people with cancer. Here are just a few ways in which the unit has helped to make a difference.
-
The first bone marrow transplants have recently taken place.
-
Parents, family and friends have been able to stay over with patients
-
Provided dozens of opportunities for young people to meet and socialise together through our Youth Support Coordinator
-
Enabled young people to take their exams on the unit whilst on treatment
-
Arranged a wedding on the unit for a poorly patient
-
Organised many birthday parties
-
Supported amazing recoveries
Now that we have this wonderful unit in place we need to continue to maintain it to the highest standard and fund the best staff to deliver the highest quality of care these young people need and deserve. With your incredible donation our work will continue.
Thank you once again we really are truly grateful.
Best Wishes to you all.
