Suprise MoM in Two Counties Over 50s

19 Jul 2013

As a young Green Team (under both a very hot sun and the rather erratic leadership of PJ) went down to the experienced Two Counties Over 50s at The Green yesterday, perhaps the biggest surprise was the announcement of Penny Lovejoy as the Man of the Match. Ray Digweed, one of the Two Counties most respected umpires, made the announcement after the Old Boys had won by some 50 odd runs. A very well compiled 93 from the female opener (36 and from West Bergholt) was only ended as she perished trying to take a single from the 44th over to save a puffing PJ from any more humiliation. Ray said during his presentation of the MoM prizes "It was a very mature innings and I was so very impressed by her soft hands, lovely".
