There were only two games this weekend and one of those - the 1sts away at Worlington – has been cancelled as most of our opposition are having to self isolate. Never mind, the Green players can perhaps cram into Primark instead, or run amok with tens of thousands of others in a national football stadium.
Our Youth season ends next week and despite the best efforts of Duncan and colleagues the season has been decimated by poor weather. Doubtless Nigel Lawson will say it’s just a blip, but everyone else thinks climate change is making it worse and with our world first Carbon Community game The Green are doing their tiny bit to help. Well someone's got to.
Winners in the battle between pandemic and weather seem to be our Women’s team who have picked a cracking evening to play tonight and have another game on Sunday, plague of locusts permitting. They and everyone else who want a few extra games should sign up for the Rayleigh evening game on Friday 30 July. Or the Police Vets game on Wednesday 18 August - just make sure your nearside rear light isn’t defective as they don’t take defeat well.
