GreenPiece – Your weekly round up from EAGCC

Senior Games.  Two crunch games for the seniors this Saturday.  The 2nds have a bottom of the table clash away at Harwich, whilst Steve Nunn and the 1s have a mid table battle against Wivenhoe.   They always play better with a bit of support so come on up – the bar is open from 5pm.

County Honours.  Many congratulations to Richard Polley who scored an unbeaten century for Essex Over 60s against Surrey Over 60s recently.

Women’s Cricket.  After a near-miss against Sudbury, our Women’s team play their last game of the season away at Mistley on Friday.   We are hosting a women’s softball festival on July 13th.

Youth Cricket.  Duncan Wyatt reports that all teams are generally performing well, with solid results, despite some recent bad weather. U13/14s are doing particularly well.

New Equipment.  Our much needed batting cage has finally arrived and will provide more much needed net capacity.  Details on how to set up and use will be out shortly.

Carbon Centurions.  The Green scored another first when the Carbon Centurions game gained extensive press coverage last Friday on BBC TV and Radio Essex.  Have a look at this Look East video to see what it’s all about. Thanks to the players on the day (see below) and special thanks to Sam & Anna Collins for organising, Matt & Amanda Blair for (meat-free!) barbie and Mick & Jonathan Purser for running the bar.  Lots more news on this over the next 100 days.

Free Beer!  Colchester Brewery have renewed their Man of the Match sponsorship with ample beers to celebrate every Saturday for the home team.  Many thanks to Tom, Roger and the team.  There may be a few pints left from last weekend if you’re lucky.  Best get there early!
