Eight Ash Green Cricket Club News story

*GREENPIECE*- 2's SHINE @ SEA & COVERS JUST IN TIME!

25 Jul 2018

1’s Struggle far from Home

A poor day for the first team away to Mildenhall as the home side played the pitch better and bowled the Green out. A great bowling performance from the usual suspects in Sam Pace & Oli Firmin set up the game well restricting the hosts for only 210 on a very small ground. However, the ‘killer’ opening bowlers for Mildenhall found the areas to put it on for 30 overs straight picking up wickets. Oli & Mark Goodall had a good partnership in the middle and the total was looking good with overs to go. However, it wasn’t to be as the Green fell short. The 1’s return to the Green this week to face Wivenhoe.

2’s Shine on the Seaside

A fantastic win against Mersea on Saturday saw the 2’s record probably the result of the season! Bowling first, Colchester Brewery Man of the Match (when you’re 18) Calum McDonald took 4 wickets for only 25 runs in his maximum 7 overs. Ed & Bevin took 3 and 2 respectfully as 10 man Mersea were skittled for only 67. The Green eased to this total with Nick W Robinson steering the ship to port with a sensible knock from James Plummer. The 2’s now travel up the A12 to Kelvedon on Saturday.

Cover Your Eyes!

Funnily enough our new covers for the square have been delivered and assembled as you read this email! I think for the first time in years at the club they thankfully have not been missed for the duration of the season. However, when the rain does come we will be protected!
