GreenPiece- FA CUP BEER FESTIVAL

09 May 2018

The return of the stumps, the Carlsberg & a Royal Wedding

1's Lose out to Mildenhall

Sadly the 1’s first game of the season failed to get off to a flyer. A fantastic bowling performance from Ali Woodcock (4-26 off 15) was not enough to keep the pressure on a good Mildenhall III side. The Green’s reply saw the top 6 making start but failing to go on. Jonathan Purser was awarded the Colchester Brewery Man of the Match. The Green are looking to bounce back this week against Wivenhoe who were recently relegated from Div 3.

2’s Face Kelvedon @ Home

After a rest week the 2’s are at home against A12 locals Kelvedon, with Calum McDonald bowling dangerously throughout the week and a playable pitch compared to the last Harwich game we look forward to the contest!

PIErates can't shut the door against the Uni

An unbeaten 76 from James Parker was not enough as the green couldn't handle the Uni's opening batsman. A great spell of bowling from Joe Young looked to upset the Uni B side however a one man show cost the Green the match. For full results please see the website.

Platinum Party Huge Success

The 1’s loss was soon forgotten on Saturday as returning faces throughout the ages came down to unveil the life members board in the Clubhouse. The night was enjoyed by all with many stories from throughout the years. Most memorable of the night was when Boo Cant revealed he had kept the stumps from the Pavilion’s opening game with Sir Len Hutton & kindly gave them back! Pictures will be on the website shortly but we are experiencing technical issues.

Women’s XI go to Mistley

After their first home game of the season was rained off the Women have had plenty of time to prepare for this week’s fixture away at Mistley. The women are always looking for new players so if you are interested or know someone who is please do get in touch!

FA CUP Final & Royal Wedding Beer Festival

Thanks to the powers that be the Royal Wedding falls on the same day as the FA Cup next Saturday which can only mean one thing… a royal selection of local beers & BBQ for everyone to enjoy! We are showcasing the best beers from around the Green. A (hopefully) sunny Saturday complete with great beer and a smoking BBQ it’s a perfect night! The football? Oh that will be on the big screen too!

Carlsberg Returns

Due to popular demand we have re installed the Carlsberg taps in anticipation of a busy season ahead! We look forward to seeing all your happy faces at the bar this season!
