Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Women's XI v Colchester & E.E CC on Fri 11 Jun 2021 at 6PM
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost
Match report
Following another successful toss for Captain Cutter, the Green went in to bat first. Established openers, Diane ‘Dimps’ Pasfield and Amy Finbow-Jeffrey, took to the field. They made a solid start before Amy was caught for 6. 3 further catches saw off the next 3 batters too, with Dimps still going strong. After Dimps retired at 25 not out, Rachel Watson and Sue Miller took up the mantle before Rachel was run out on 11. A target of 76 was set, the Green needed to work hard in the field.
And work hard they did. There was lots of lively fielding and quick work to stop boundaries and reduce singles. Some excellent bowling from Minal Patel saw the first wicket fall with the batter going for just 8 runs. Also taking bowled wickets were Sophie Spicer and Millie Green. The other wicket came courtesy of a stunning stumping by diligent Dimps, alert, as always to a batter out of her crease. Despite an improvement in wicket taking on the last performance, the Green were chased down in 15.3 overs.
Undone by the old adage – catches win matches - the Green ladies need to score more runs for a defensible target. More batting practice this week for an improved display on Friday – come on ladies, you can do this! Green Army!
