Match report A win – of the toss for Captain Cutter!

Following a few washout weeks, the Green ladies were pleased to be taking the field once again, away at Mistley. In a change to usual form, Captain Cutter won the toss and elected to field.

The ladies welcomed back Minal Patel to open the bowling alongside Debbie Green – a strong pairing, restricting initial runs. The Green looked lively in the field, chasing hard and diving to stop balls. One such dive led to an injury for Debbie Green and her subsequent replacement by Sue Miller. Some late fielding flourishes took 3 wickets but the Green were up against it, chasing 141.

It was then the ladies turn to bat against some fierce bowling. Batting third, after a fabulous afternoon on the golf course, was Libby Knifton (apple), who was the only player to retire. She was required to return at the end of the innings, scoring 36 before being bowled. The rest of the team scored single figures, if anything, giving the Green 85 all out. A disappointing evening with the bat – something to work on at training this week! A lovely evening nonetheless and we go again next week. Green Army!
