Match report Green catches don’t always win matches!

On an auspicious day, Captain Cutter won the toss and put Sudbury into bat. The Green ladies promptly rewarded this decision with some excellent fielding. There were two spectacular catches – Millie Green and Debbie Green showing their true Green colours! Following training on Tuesday, some much improved bowling from Captain Cutter and Sophie Spicer produced a clean bowled wicket each. But in an evening of fielding highlights, possibly already the throw of the season, Libby Knifton took out the stumps with a stunning throw from deep in the field. A bushel of apples required! This superb team display restricted Sudbury to 80 for their 20 overs.

Unfortunately, the batting display was less impressive. With usual opener Amy unavailable, new recruit Rachel Watson stepped in to open. An experienced all rounder, she’s a great addition to the team. But it was not to be the Green’s night on the batting – all out for 46. Disappointing when the fielding had been so strong. Back to the training ground to come back stronger for next week.
