Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost

Match report After turning over Sudbury at home last week, the EAG ladies were off to fortress Sudbury this week and the opposition were keen to even the score. With a rambunctious wind around, The Green were batting first.

In a change to the top order, Diane ‘Dimps’ Pasfield opened with Libby Knifton. Libby was bowled for 3, bringing Amy Finbow-Jeffrey (TP) to the crease. Amy batted well, even hitting an immense 6 and retiring on 27 before being required to return at the end of the innings to see out the overs for the ladies. A disappointing total of just 72 was set.

Up against it in the field, Captain Cutter once again deployed the one over spell strategy from last week. The bowlers worked hard but there was just too little to defend and The Green were chased down in 13 overs. A disappointing end to the season on the pitch but all was not lost – a scintillating cake was made by Millie’s Dad which raised spirits all round; not many teams in the league can claim to have their own chef!

That’s all the games for this season, and what a season it has been! Against all the odds, we have managed to do training, to play matches and even win some games! The team spirit has been stunning and promises great things for next season. A big thank you to all our officials, without whom we wouldn’t be able to play; Max, Steve, Mark, Jo and David, you are wonderful. Also to the Tuesday night coaching team of Sam, Steve and Millie, your time and patience with us is much appreciated! And last but by no means least, Captain Cutter who somehow manages to marshal the troops and keep them vaguely in line!
