Match report Following a super win last week against Mistley, the ladies were riding high into the next game at home against Colchester. Losing the toss (again) The Green were put into bat. This week it was opener Amy Finbow-Jeffrey's turn to make the strong foundation, making well calculated shots against a fast Colchester bowling attack before eventually being bowled for 17. Star of the middle order Minal Patel, was seeing the ball well, scoring 3 fours on the way to her 25 retired.
Colchester openers Evie and Anna scored quickly off the initial bowling , both making 25 retired. In a tricky situation, the Green rallied and excellent bowing spells from Captain Cutter and returnee Sasha Sibley, both taking 2 wickets. Improved fielding led to super catches from Vicky Wrycraft and batting star Minal. As the game was drawing to a tight finish, Captain Cutter turned to experienced bowlers Hannah Finbow-Jeffrey and Minal. Despite Hannah taking 2 late wickets, and a super boundary slide from newcomer Libyy Knifton, the 4 could not be prevented and Colchester edged the match in the 18th over.
A disappointment for the Ladies after last week's win but many positives were drawn. Fortunately they have an opportunity to settle the score away at fortress Colchester next week - good luck Ladies.
