Match report EAGCC women's team started the 2020 'friendly' season with a fantastic win against old rivals Mistley at the Green on Sunday. Following some strong training and a new kit, team spirit was at an all time high. Put into bat first, opener Diane (Dimps) Pasfield made a strong 18 through partnerships with Amy Finbow-Jeffrey and Vicky Wrycraft. With the top order dismissed, the middle order contributed some fast runs, led by the Captain, Karen (Stumpy) Cutter, who made 25 retired, with a couple of 4's thrown in for good measure. A kick in the tail gave a strong total of 127 to defend. Jilly Powles commented that this was 'definitely do-able' and so it was.
The bowling was a real team effort with 8 of the team taking a turn. Opening bowler Hannah Finbow-Jeffrey took 3 wickets but it was youngster Sophie Spicer who dislodged the experienced Martin as she was well on her way to making her 25. Some tight fielding led to 2 run outs, restricting the visitors to 88 off their 20 overs.
The Green were rightfully pleased with a great team performance - youth, novice and experience all playing their part. Well done ladies!!
