Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Redundant5 v Long Melford on Sun 15 Jun 2008 at 10:00
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won

Match report Long Melford brought their U12s on Sunday, believing it to be an U12 fixture. This information was witheld from EAG U11s, who were told that Melford brought 11 players to give them all a game! The visiting team were very understanding and in the end we played 5 pairs, terrier cricket. Charlie Cresswell kindly stepped in and visiting french student, Tancrede Maillot, made his cricketing debut.

EAG batted well, not brilliantly, and took the few runs where they were able. Crucially, they lost only four wickets, leaving themselves with a defendable score of 286. The home side took to the field and did then bowl brilliantly. Two of EAG's talented U9s, James Parry and Josh Chapman were the pick of the bowlers, with James taking a hatrick in this his first match for the club. Dominic Blanchard, having performed well with the bat, then fielded very well, taking some crucial catches and stopping many runs at backward point.

An excellent all round effort from the home team saw them convincingly beat older and more experienced opposition. Well done.
