Eight Ash Green Cricket Club U16 v Mistley on Thu 19 Jun 2008 at 6.00
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Won
Match report
The green began this match with high hopes of recording their first win of the season. And the match began well, with Jack Smith bowling a great opening spell, taking 1-11 of his four overs. Giorgio D'Anna also bowled well, despite taking an over to get fully into his stride. Both Matt Chambers and Stephen Nunn bowled very well towards the end of the innings, the latter picking up the important wicket of James Scott who made 66 of Mistley's total.
Chasing a modest target of 106 to win, Eight Ash Green got off to a great start, openers Keeble and Lennard-Jones quickly racking up a 50 partnership. However, Luke Keeble was by far the dominant partner as he smashed the bowling all over the place. After Lennard-Jones eventually departed for a torturous 5, Jack Smith took the attack to the Mistley bowlers, smashing 32 in no time at all. This included one massive six over mid-wicket, and a six over cover which prompted the bowler to attempt to scare him with a 10 second stare. With just two needed to win in the 15th over, the Green almost made a mess of it, eventually stumbling over the line with two overs remaining for a very satisfying win.
