Colchester & E.E v Eight Ash Green Cricket Club U15 on Tue 17 May 2011 at 6.00pm
Eight Ash Green Cricket Club Lost By 25 Runs
Match report
The U15s lost by 25 runs to a very strong Colchester side, that was packed with District players, at the Castle Park on Tuesday evening.
The Green fielded first, and a superb opening spell of bowling by Matt, Richard and Nathan had Colchester in trouble at 38 for 6 off 9 overs, however Colchester then recovered with Cairns and Theron putting on 36 before Sam P took a briliant C&B to dismiss the dangerous Cairns. Theron struck a few more boundaries to see Colchester to 99 for 9.
The Green reply got off to the worst possible start when Nathan was bowled off the second ball, Leighton and Matt both batted well, putting on 27 for the second wicket before Leighton was out, which unfortunately sparked something of a collapse to 51-9 before the last wicket pair of Sam P and Charlie both did well to get the score to 74 at the end of the innings.
Although we lost, there were a number of good individual performances, particularly from the bowlers, in addition Leighton did well opening the innings against two very good bowlers.
