Onwards & Upwards! Youth Meeting Report.

03 Jul 2015

Many thanks for so many of you attending on Tuesday.  The aim is results not reports so the below is a brief summary of the meeting.  Glad to see more games / training already scheduled …

Sponsorship.  Mega-thanks to Matt B and Blackstone Contractors.  More needed if you run a business or you know those who do.   If still no then support of social events will help!  (FYI on average it costs £140 to put on each youth home game.  Yes, £140)

Coaching.  Another L2 coach needed for next season to support Steve & team.  Thanks to all the latter for unstinting (and unpaid) service this year. Training in umpiring and scoring will enable more parents to contribute.

Leagues.  Will drop from Premier to more suitable leagues next year.

Organisation. More help needed!  Team managers worked well in the past & three are needed for next year (U15s, U12s & KC).   Possibly U11s too if we get recruitment going.   Possibility of forming small committee to co-ordinate.

Presentation Evening.   7pm on Tuesday 14th July - the final Tuesday of season.

Social media.  A closed Facebook group will be trialled shortly to support coaching.  The management policy will be advised in advance.

Recruitment.  More players needed and ‘bring a friend’ works well.  Targeting local schools again and rugby club a good idea. Open Day and other events feasible with a bit more assistance.   Targeting girls might work too.

Kit.  Shirts and caps have been issued to all players and money owed will be advised shortly.  Please pay promptly!  Make sure you put name & club in every item as most will be lost!   If lost then kit must be replaced for the next home game.

Training.  Tuesday evening at 6pm preferred date & time.  More playing games vital and 1/3 of future sessions will do this.  Games on Sundays also scheduled starting at 09.30 on July 12th with help from Craig.   Training twice a week during a short season a good idea (with help!)

Jack Petchey. Well done to Will Spicer & Callum MacDonald for winning. Full details on web site shortly.
