The sun is shining , so it must mean the start of the cricket season! Thanks to agreement with Melton St Audry’s to play at their ground on Saturday, Alastair Hammond’s 1st XI start their Two Counties Division Six campaign on Saturday.
This will be the first of over 100 fixtures for sides representing Eight Ash Green CC during the coming season.
Many people have worked very hard in the run up to the season to ensure the pavilion is clean and smart, with the bar area tastefully decorated - thanks for that goes to the Parker boys, Andrew Woodhouse and Richard. The ground, after suffering from poor drainage in recent months, has started, in the past week to resemble a cricket ground. Kemsley’s hard work on the square together with a cut and rolled outfield will see us ready for the first home fixture on April 25th.
I ask players of all teams to support their respective captains with good availability for games and to support the clubs off field events and bar which help to provide much needed income.
Meeting the costs to provide all the scheduled cricket is an ongoing challenge for the clubs committee and I ask that all players are prompt in their payment of subscriptions and complete membership forms, to help membership secretary Penny Lovejoy. For those who have already done this – Thank you.
To all cricketers, from the youngest Kwik cricketer to the oldest senior (either Neil Brinded or myself?) I hope you have a successful but more importantly enjoyable time representing Eight Ash Green during the coming season.
Richard Polley
Chairman
