Club members will be shocked to learn that Paul Marston suffered a heart attack whilst playing Badminton on Thursday. Speedy first aid work by his colleagues until medics arrived helped Paul before he was rushed to Colchester General Hospital. I spoke briefly to Paul on Saturday and he had no recollection of events. I have had a longer conversation with him today, he is waiting to see a consultant tomorrow to assess his situation.

Considering what he has been through he was in good spirits, but did say he is unlikely to be available for the first game of the season.

I am sure everyone will join me in wishing Paul a speedy recovery.
