A few words from the newly appointed 1st Team Captain for 2015

2015 is set to be one of the most exciting years for Eight Ash Green’s first team, as we challenge ourselves again this season in our Two Counties division six home!

After the successive promotions that the ‘Green Machine’ has achieved over the past two seasons, we will again be looking for further advancement up the league and to achieve our long-term objective; to get our cricket club back to where we believe it rightfully belongs. With the current crop of talent that we have in our club, the first team is well equipped to compete in division six.

The pool of talent within the club will bring a further competitive edge to the team and team selection. A key focus for this season will be on training and individual growth, and this will lay a solid foundation for the years to come.

As Captain for 2015, not only do I want to promote individual excellence, but I will also place a strong emphasis on the importance of teamwork. As I did during my last Captaincy in 2013, I want to re-introduce ‘game day’ - pre-match meetings, light nets and workouts before every game. I also want to encourage the spirit of cricket; the core values and traditions that I have been brought up with over the 20+ years that I have played for the Green, personified by competitive sportsmanship which has been a foundation of the club’s character since it was established.

Greenies – I am really excited about this upcoming season! We are a great club with fantastic people and have a tremendous opportunity ahead of us to build upon the successes of recent seasons. I am ready for it, are you?

Can’t wait to see you all at the nets soon!

Alastair (Blondie) Hammond

1st Team Captain.
